This Monday, November 14th, Dallas Beer Week continues, and as with every day of the week long event there are great tappings going on.
At the Common Table they’ll be tapping a very rare keg of Deschutes Black Butte XXIII. That’s the double strength version of their excellent black butte porter, and it weighs in at a little over 10%. It’s brewed with cocoa nibs, oranges, and chillies, and quite frankly, it’s fantastic. I love the beer but I’ve yet to try it on tap, so I know where this particular DFWHops writer will be headed Monday night. To sweeten the deal, they’ll also be releasing their bottle stash of Deschutes truly world class Imperial Stout, The Abyss. These are the 2010 vintage, so they should have just about reached their “Best After” date. Yes, you read that write, they have a best after date.
In addition, they’ll also be tapping Mikkeller Koppi IPA, that’s an IPA brewed with coffee…never had it, but pretty curious. They’ll also have have Lagunitas Sonoma Farmhouse Saison if you’re looking for something a little lighter on the palate then Imperial Stouts and double sized porters, plus Deschutes excellent winter ale, Jubelale.
It also sounds as though the Deschutes Rep, Tisha Smith will be in attendance. I’m sure she’d love to hear feedback on their beers, and is probably already mentally prepping herself to field a whole slew of variations on the question “Why didn’t we get The Dissident?” As well as preparing her eyes to be rolled when she inevitably hears some beer nerd tell her…”You know, The Stoic isn’t really a quad…”
Of course if that’s all you can think to ask or say to the Deschutes rep, perhaps you should just keep your face in your beer or she might not want to come back.
Oh, and don’t forget that they should still have some Deep Ellum Brewing beers on tap as well. Try them out!
And of course, the Common Table isn’t the only one with events happening on Monday for Dallas Beer week. A few blocks away at the Dallas located Gingerman, they’ll be continuing their own 20th Anniversary Celebration by tapping a beer specially brewed just for them by Brooklyn brewing!
Pretty sweet, if you ask me.
And up at Kegs and Barrels in Plano, DFWHop’s buddy Marlon will be helping out with a tasting of North Coast products, which are always solid and often fantastic.
Beyond that, The Bottle Shop on Greenville is featuring special Growler fills all day this week, each day a different brewery. Why not head over there and check them all out?
And as if that’s not enough, there’s even more stuff going on!
Why not head over to the source itself and check out their event calender? It’s pretty spectacular.
